Love is in the air...

Happy Chinese New Year! :) I know we are in the thick of common tests... but Valentine's Day is also around the corner. This week, I am curious as to what students in 4E4 think about Boy-Girl Relationships.

1) In your opinion, should secondary school students engage in BGR? Why or why not?
2) What do you think is an appropriate age to begin a romantic relationship?
3) What are some advantages and disadvantages of being in a romantic relationship at your age?

You can respond to any of the above questions, or just write on the topic of BGR in general. This is a class blog, so what counts here is your honest opinion. No need to be "politically correct," or try to give what you imagine is an "acceptable answer." However, we should respect each others' opinions on this topic, which I am sure can be quite different.

Happy posting!

And yes, it is time to change the blog song. :P

Ok i'll be the first to comment now then.
YiJie here.

1)I think students can get into BGR but if the students have their things well planned and schedule. Because the reason is, one may never know the feelings about it as they are able to keep it inside their heart but what i suggest is say it out. It won't harms you and things are to be shared. Although sometimes you may think that what if the person doesn't likes me or avoid and stop talking to me after the confession? Then that person isn't mature enough for you to like him/her then. Because every relationships always starts with the word 'FRIEND' and it is something to make you more understand about the person and someone to encourage even sharing SECRETS like some people did (: So, getting into BGR also makes you understand more about that person. How does the person reacts with problems, the attitude of doing things and how does he/she treats a person (:

2)Appropriate age to get into a relationship is after your studies, even if you are studying in university, you should focus on studies first. When you start your work, you have the money and more free time for your personal stuffs. You don't have to worry much more about STUDIES anymore (:

3) Advantages -We can know more friends and know each other more as how they treat things and others. Therefore you can act accordingly to give in when a problem comes by.
Disadvantages -
Studies may get affected and when you are at borderline passes already you'll get worse or even some time break up happened and you are totally not in the mood of studying and you fail your stuffs.
Money is another problem, if you have to focus on studies you don't already have much time for relationship so when you have your free time, you need money to go out. That makes you find for job and this tires you out within a month or so. you may not have enough time to STUDY, WORK and for relationship therefore you'll make a mess in your studies.
So these are the Disadvantages and Advantages.

Ok i know my question 1 and 2 contradicts one another ._. but i just state whatever i know and i'm just being neutral about whether getting engage in BGR or not.

Hello! Atiyyah here.

1) Well its depends on that person. If the person know how to balance well between schools and relationship, I think its okay for them to get into BGR. Since we are still schooling and so young, why bother to be in such relationship? I mean we still have better stuff to do rather than being into a relationship that will make u feel so heartbroken. So for me it is a big NO! I myself have been into this relationship and we break up, it left me with such a great pains that no one able to see. It just will makes u feel horrible and just pull down your grades in school. So which one you choose? To have a relationship at a young age just to spoil your future? NO WAY!!

2)Hmm.. I guess I don't know. It depends on the person. Different people have different perspective on things. Having a relationship is not easy so, we should start when we are able to take the risk of being into serious relationship.

3) Romantic relationship eh? Well, the pros are we will be experiencing kind of new feelings/emotions that you never had. I must warn you it will not last long. We are still young and we don't really know how to appreciate love yet. We know that we are loved but will you know how long this feelings would last? The cons will be when we are to deeply in love with this person, and we have to let him/her go just like that. You will feel sad and felt useless. Be careful, as this will affects your concentration on your studies and when that happen, you will totally be ruined.

At this young age, we should avoid being into BGR. Its all yours to decide but think again. Does it really wort it to be in BGR?

hey there!
Selena here(:

1) I think it is alright for secondary school students to engage themselves in BGR as long as they can still cope with their studies and also emotionally. As everyone knows, at this age, we are more fond of starting to notice the opposite gender. By falling in love with a boy/girl, will not do any harm to us if we know how to handle the relationship well and control our feelings.

2) To me, the most appropriate age to engage ourselves in a romantic relationship is at least sixteen years or older. It is because during this period of time, we can think better and differentiate right from wrong clearly. What to do and what not to do. At this age, we tend to think maturely and not so sensitive to minor things like our boy/girlfriend mixes around with another girl/boy.

3) Well, actually the advantages as compared to disadvantages are significantly lesser because at my age, getting into a relationship might not bring any advantages to us. We get into a relationship mostly slightly because most of our friends are too. So it is sometimes due to peer pressure. The disadvantages are that if we encounter any setbacks in the relationship, it is rather unlikely that we can still concentrate fully in lesson time. Which also means that it would definitely jeopardize our studies in school. As everyone knows, studies is very important this year because whatever results we get, is where we stand in future. Another disadvantage is that we are studying in a mixed school, and if we have a boy/girlfriend in the same school, it is very likely for couples to get into a misunderstanding. At our age, we should learn to socialise, but if our other half sees us talking to a member of the opposite gender, they will tend to think that we are flirting or that we might lose interest in them. That's where all the problem starts.

So, being in a relationship is fully your choice and whether or not to let it affect your studies is another thing(: All in all, i would like to say that there's no wrong in getting into a relationship as long as you can prioritise your relationship and studies!

that's all:D
XOXO

In my opinion, I think that its ok for secondary school students to be engage in BGR. Having a boyfriend/girlfriend does not means that it will affect your grades. Sometimes, having another person to listen to your rants and complains can be a good thing too because its better than keeping them to yourself and suffer alone. Personally, I think that its ok to have a relationship at our age as long as we know our limits and we do not over cross the boundary. As long as we are able to control our emotions well and do not let our relationshipo setbacks affect our life, its totally ok to have a relationship.

2) What do you think is an appropriate age to begin a romantic relationship?

I think the appropriate age to have a relationship depends on each individual. It depends how a person look at the relationship and how they think or feel if they suffer setbacks or relationship. It doesn't mean that if you start a relationship during young age, it will not last forever. People who are older or mature also suffer heartbreaks and tears in relationship. So, it doens't make any sense when people say secondary school pupils are not mature enough to have a relationship. Secondary school students must have this mind-set in mind :
' Have the courage to love, have the courage to suffer'.

3) What are some advantages and disadvantages of being in a romantic relationship at your age?

There are alot of advantages and disadvantages of being in a relationship at our age. But I have to admit that there are more disadvantages.

The advantages are there is always someone there to listen to your rants and complains ( as mention above), and there will be somebody, other than your family, to love and to pamper you. Having a relationship makes you feel happy and blessed, (if you met the correct guy (:) Your boyfriend/girlfriend can also gives you encouragement when you suffer from setback in your studies or when you're in bad mood. Personally, I think that it makes me feel blessed to be in a relationship :DD

The disadvantages only comes when we are unable to control our emotions well and let the setback in our relationship affect our life, Eg: studies. If we're unable to cope with the stress that we are suffering in the relationship, we may give up on ourselves and see no point in continue living in this world. ( I have to admit I'm guilty for this).

hey people aqil here time to answer ms ruby question.

1.In my opinion it is ok to get in a relationship as long both parties are understanding .If one of the party thinks that he/she might dump him or her then do not ever get in a relationship cause u will start causing problems to yourself which i think is stupid(sorry). Its ok if both parties can still cope with their main duties for example studying for this age.
2.to me the appropriate age to get in a relationship is of cause after you get a stable job and a reasonable income as by then we can support our own nonsense.I seriously think that the ages below 18 is discourage from having relationship as your 'income' is supported by your parents. So this means your using your parents money to carry on your relationship.
3.Advantages of having a romantic relationship is of course to make you feel that you have someone caring about you beside your parents and teachers.relationships like this also help us realease our problems to someone who understand and willing to hear you.Of course for all advantages there will be some disadvantages like not able to cope with studies. As our main objectives in secondary school is still studying to get a good future. so went we are in a relationship some people might be to in love to study and would not concentrate and this will cause problems to yourself.
To conclude of cause by all means if you want to get in a relationship go ahead but remember the consequences if it fails hahaha.(just kidding)

Im sorry if spelling, grammar or sentence structure mistake is ever found on my comment.
